SALA is dedicated to promoting accountability among corporate landlords and empowering students through data-driven insights into the corporate ownership and suitability of student housing.
These missions are reflected in all our work, notably our database of student accommodation. This database includes 1-5 ratings of our three criteria and each accommodation's overall corporate ownership.

In student halls, we also look at how well the building supports everyday living. With residential landlords, we pay extra attention to how helpful and responsive the landlord or agency is when problems come up.

Finding affordable student housing is tough, with rents reaching over £2000 a month. After paying for accommodation, students often struggle to cover other essential expenses. We rate affordability based on student's views, rent costs, living expenses, and maintenance loan coverage.
Habitability
For housing to be truly adequate, it needs to offer safe and comfortable shelter. We grade habitability based on student's views, focusing on health hazards, security of tenure and the quality of appliances and furniture.
